A pesticide that you might have used in the past is imidacloprid. Imidacloprid belongs to the neonicotinoids group of insecticides, which means they contain a certain amount of nicotine in their formulation. One of the most popular insecticides used in the world, mainly in agriculture, imidacloprid is sold under many different brand names. Some of these brand names are: Premise, Gaucho, Nuprid, Winner, and Intercept.
Imidacloprid is very effective against all kinds of insects and invertebrates like termites, ants, scale bugs, fleas, ticks, grasshoppers, and many more. In fact, it is so effective that it has been blamed for causing honeybee populations to nosedive.
In humans, imidacloprid is mildly toxic, and some of its side effects are itchiness of skin and muscle numbness. That said, it should always be handled with care if you choose to use it in your garden.
